This is a cosmetic surgery used to treat structural defects in the vagina to tighten the vaginal canal is often called vaginal rejuvenation or a vaginoplasty. As with any surgery, a smoker must quit smoking at least three weeks prior to vaginal rejuvenation surgery.  People with heart problems, diabetes, problems with blood clotting, and so on are not good candidates for this surgery.  If a woman is planning to have future pregnancies, she will probably want to wait until she is through bearing children to opt for this procedure.  Always speak with your doctor about your current medical condition and your medical history before scheduling a surgery.

As with any type of surgery, some of the risk factors associated with vaginal rejuvenation surgery include infection, excessive bleeding and the risk of scarring.  Because some nerve endings are cut, there can be a semi permanent or even a permanent change in sensation, such as numbness.  Because this is a relatively new type of surgery, all of the risks or long-term effects of a vaginoplasty are not known at this time, but there could be problems with the muscles and tissues of the vagina.
